BIG EAST Tournament, No. 2 Bulls vs No. 7 Panthers, Tuesday 8 p.m.

The University of South Florida baseball team had to win one of three games going into the final series of the regular season against the Louisville Cardinals, but they came up short. The Cardinals swept the Bulls 2-1, 4-3 and 12-1 to win the BIG EAST regular season title. USF found themselves in second place in their conference for the fifth time ever, and the first time since joining the BIG EAST. Their last second place finish came in the Metro Conference when the Bulls went 11-7.

Patriots Draft Bulls' Linebacker Mckenzie 97th Overall

Tampa - Saturday, the New England Patriots drafted USF linebacker Tyrone McKenzie in the third round with the 97th pick. McKenzie became the 11th player in USF football history to be selected in the NFL Draft.

McKenzie is one of three linebackers to play at USF to be taken in the history of the Draft and the eighth defensive player. The first two linebackers were Kawika Mitchell (second round in 2003), and Stephen Nicholas (fourth round in 2007).

Hit Parade and Strong Pitching Leads Bulls to 11-2 Win

The USF baseball team scored 11 runs on 18 hits and improved their Big East record to 14-3 (26-15 overall) after defeating the West Virginia Mountaineers 11-2 on Saturday night at Red McEwen Field. Accompanied with a Louisville loss to Notre Dame, the Bulls secured a two game lead in the Big East Conference.

USF got a strong outing out of starting pitcher Derrick Stultz. Stultz threw eight innings, allowed only two runs on six hits while striking out five and surrendering no walks. Stultz improved to a record of 5-1.
